Flight 19
Many airplanes have flown near or across the Bermuda Triangle. One airplane was unsuccessful. The airplane, Flight 19, may have been a casualty of war on a day in December in 1945. The disappearance of Flight 19 still remains a mystery today. This flight actually included a training squadron of five U.S. navy torpedo bombers. On this frightful night, Flight 19 was still in radio contact with the Fort Lauderdale air base, but after some mechanical difficulties they failed to switch to an emergency frequency. They lost contact. A search plane took off and tried to save Flight 19, but it got lost in the Bermuda Triangle along with Flight 19. None of the pilots or aircrafts were ever found. Following this incident, other aircraft had disappeared in the area including DC-3 which carried 27 passengers in 1948 and a C-124 Globemaster which carried 53 passengers in 1951. Both of these airplanes disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle as well.
